Our Contacts

Red Monkey Lodge is located right on the stunning Mfumbwi beach in Jambiani on the south east coast of Zanzibar. Jambiani is a small fishing village with a long white sandy beach and many palm trees. We pride ourselves of being integrated into the village rather than being an isolated ‘ghetto for tourists.

On Zanzibar

Once you arrive on the island, (either at Stone Town or the Airport) there are two main options to get to RED MONKEY LODGE in Jambiani, on the east coast:

Taxi (1 hour):

USD 50-60 per car per way. We can book this for you with our local partner if you wish.

Dalla dalla (90-160 mins):

The local buses from Stone Town (called dalla dalla) leave on a more or less regular basis from early morning until the afternoon. If you are arriving at the airport, you will need to get a taxi to Stone Town to pick up the bus.

Getting around on the Island:

Taxi’s can be expensive on Zanzibar, but they are the best way to get around. There is also bike hire, Dalla Dalla (local buses) and walking. There is plenty to see and do in Jambiani, which can all be done on foot.

All visitors must have a valid passport and visa to enter Zanzibar. Most nationalities can obtain their Zanzibar Visa directly at the airport upon arrival. Visa fees vary according to the country you originate from. Check here if your nationality can not obtain visa upon arrival!

At times the yellow fever certificate can become mandatory. It’s best to travel with one from your home doctor.
