ABOUT RED STAGE

Probably the smallest stage with the best view on the planet. We started doing our Monday night jam sessions about 6 years ago, now famously known as CRAZY MONDAY. The idea was to encourage and grow local artists and provide regular opportunities for them to play and to collaborate with international artists. It has now become one of the best regular events in Tanzania. As this project has evolved, Red Stage, despite it’s small size and capacity, has also started to attract high calibre international musicians and collaborations. We are planning to release some of our Crazy Monday tapes in 2019.

CRAZY MONDAY @ RED STAGE

Crazy Monday at RED MONKEY LODGE has become one of the most important regular events in Tanzania for local musicians. Over the 4 years, we’ve built connections with artists all over East Africa and further afield. The format is that of a jam session rather than a show, so, international and high-level artists collaborate, sing, and play with the local artists, creating amazing fusions of culture and musical style. It’s always a high energy event from 9pm-12am every Monday. You can keep informed of our special events on our Crazy Monday Facebook Page.

RED STAGE FACILITIES

We have a resident expert sound engineer Philamon, who looks after the setup and sound for the Red Stage and has diligently recorded most of our Crazy Monday events.

We have a simple but quality setup, but for bigger events and international acts, we often bring in extra equipment, though of course there are limits to what is available in Tanzania/Zanzibar. (International acts will have to adjust their tech riders to suit the small size of the stage)

RED STAGE BOOKING

Local or International artists who want to play at the CRAZY MONDAY jam sessions or play at a special event on the RED STAGE have an open invitation to get in touch with us.

We also run occasional workshops to help grow local East African artists. We are always interested in talking to music experts in production, recording, branding, marketing and distribution, who would like to assist with this program.

For any of these options please contact Mark.
